JIRA server login failure with SSL disabled
Unable to log into JIRA server since server configuration changed to eliminate need for VPN connection to server. From IE7 I can log into the server via https://jira.medquist. Using this same URL in the Worklog Assistant configuration with SSL disabled fails with the "Worklog Assistant for JIRA requires that the SOAP API" error.

Hi Ted,
The problem seems to be that the server is not properly responding when WLA requests the certificate revocation lists. Can you ask your administrator if there is something they can do about it?
This might be happening because the root CA which would publish the CRL is not available thorugh the internet but only through VPN.
In the meantime, you can disable requesting the CRL in Internet Explorer. This can be done by going to Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Security and unchecking "Check for certificate revocation".
Please let me know if this resolves the issue.
I’m happy, that was a toughie!

Inappropriate?Hi Ted, I can reproduce this problem against your server on Windows, but not Linux. I'm going to see what is going on. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Inappropriate?By the way, you can also view this screencast to see how to change the IE option:

Inappropriate? It seems I can programatically avoid this issue so I'll be making a new beta release with this change. Until then you can use the workaround above.

Inappropriate?Thaks for the lightning-fast response. The screencast was particularly helpful, since it showed I needed to uncheck the "Disable SSL Authentication" option in the configuration. All I had to do to was increase the "Connection timeout" option and I was connecting successfully to my JIRA server. I am very grateful for your quick response and considerable expertise.
Gratefully,
Ted Takacs
I’m grateful for the lightning-fast response. Thanks!

Cool. I'm still going to see if there is a way I can solve this problem with code but at least there is a workaround for now! Thanks for the report. -
Inappropriate?Hi Ted,
Just in time for your weekend work, there is a new beta with this functionality.
You can download the beta here:
http://next.worklogassistant.com/down...
You should revert your changes to the IE configuration you made as above to properly verify.
Thanks for the report!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I implemented Weblog Assistant for JIRA (WAJ) 1.0.1103 and found that I needed to configure WAJ with "Disable SSL Authentication" unchecked and "Check for server certificate revocation" unchecked to achieve acceptable operation. Using any other setting of these options resulted in numerous (approx 18) sets of "Security Alerts". The two alerts recurring were "The Certificate Issuer for this site is untrusted or unknown" and "Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available." Note that within IE 7 I did import the "untrusted" certificate from our JIRA server.

Looking into it... -
Ted, did this happen when you launched WLA? -
Inappropriate?Ok, I see this interacts badly with "Disable SSL authentication". For now, I think you should leave this unchecked until I fix this problem. Sorry about that!
I’m grr

Inappropriate?Having a tough time solving this problem. Hang in there! You are still able to use it using prior instructions right Ted?
